Very early bass hunt - Waterford - 2nd Mar '13

#1 Post by John D »

People:Mise, Anthony agus Barry

Duration:7:30 until 15:30

Tide:High at approximately 08:16

Weather:Overcast, cool, dry, good water clarity, little wave action.

Bait:N/A

Rigs:Various hard and soft plastics

Results:Nothing

Report:This trip was more about dusting cob webs off our fishing tackle and getting our senses tuned into the elements for the upcoming season. We didn't catch anything but we did witness a couple of sea trout being caught on lures by other anglers in the area.

Were the winds from the East? That really messes the fishing up.

Good tides next week and hopefully no more N or E winds.

W Waterford always fishes better in S winds.

Last year from Easter onwards we had N or NW winds for a lot of the time and right throughout the summer. The bass fishing was very poor due to this. On the few days when we had even a mild S wind the bass were there to be caught from the shore.

We had some good bass fishing out in deep water from the boat and would not have expected this. I presume that with the cold winds the fish stayed further out.

This is my theory but I could be wrong :!: :!:
