Your SAI story?

#1 Post by Drew »

Lads, a lot of us have been here for whats damn near approaching a decade, there's bound to be some crazy/funny/interesting stories arising from our memberships of SAI? Whats your favourite SAI related story? I'm just trying to think of mine...

I met many prople through SAI and and fished and casted with them up and down the country, some have become great friends outside fishing too, but I also met my Girl friend Donna indirectly through SAI as she's the sister of a Forum member called Tonyfella. We have a little boy Tadhg who has SAI to thank for him being here :D

aww, that's so sweet Shane, and your timing is just perfect :)
I haven't had a lot of experience in sea angling as Austria is landlocked and have found SAI an invaluable source of information since I joined. I have met like minded people and was lucky to fish in locations I never would have dreamed beforehand.
One negative point has to be mentioned as well - I bought far too much fishing gear over the years :P but that's a different story...

I always like the panic that ensues from the mods as soon as the aul racism rears its head, its actually more entertaining to see the mods grovelling at times with apologies to all and sunder as well as handing out site holidays and clambering to lock posts.........im joking of course;)
Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

Ah, the oul' "dodgy chinese" excuse!

(nothing to do with copious quantities of alcoholic beverages... )
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

The funniest story has to be Pete kd's exploits dropping his car keys into the water at buncranna slip, and managing to hook them from the sea bed with 3 treble hooks attached to a spreader bar!

Chasing the hound with Tightlines for 2/3 weeks on a mark in north county Dublin and blanking all the time and coming around the bend to the mark to see that it was empty of anglers and happy days it was ours for the taking

Quickly unloading the boot and kit up to rush down to the mark waiting for the rise with bait out and being striped by the bloodsucker crabs... ONLY to see both our rods double over and FISH ON we finely had hit the bull eyes after 2/3 of blanking 5/6 days a week and crab after crab beein stripped and we were finally onto the hound,s...   8) 8)

My PB was taken from there and Alan lost a hugh fish on the retive at the rocks... Hook straighten on him... So roll on our next houndfeist....( check the post out by the same name dont know how to retive the post to link onto this comment :| ) As soon as the pics went viral we had to rush to the mark as we were all looking for them and the mark got full very fast. Mark fish 2/3 anglers snugly others had to fish of the rocks tackle graveyard.. :x :x

On a mark during last summer that gkelly put us on fishing and camping for night for the ray and we all had great fish landed as I was about to take a pic of Alan's ray until I saw my rod bounce and bounce in the stand and take of like a rocket need least to say the camera was chucked aside and rocked hopped to find everything gone but jammed down in a ravine and wedged in between the rocks still bouncing like crazy, a very quick scramble down by Alan and Co... and rod and rest was revived and again FISH ON and another PB thornie was landed but alas was a few ounces lighted that Alan's...

My 1st Bass of last year... Ah the memories to many to write down...

And all the member I/we have met on different mark all around the country

Hope to see r meet you all again

Ger thanks for the orange juice you had in the car when we got up to the top of the cliff with all the fish, rods, etc and camping gear 8) 8)

That,s my happy memories of meeting and making some great friends thanks to SAI site
