What are the best websites to order tackle online?

George i would always recommend Veals. shopping around is worth a try but Veal's get a good thumbs up from me. very helpful and good tackle with HONEST advice on what might suit the individual.

I've used Veals, they are excellent for mail/phone orders. My first choice every time. Dunno what they're like for on-line orders.

Gerry's of Morcambe is first rate too. Harris Angling for specialised lures.

Avoid Glasgow Ancling Center.

I've used Harris a few times, as tanglerat said they are good for lures. Their 1/2 price bargains section is also worth a look :P. They charge £0.70 per item for shipping, I ordered a reel from them and was still only charged £0.70 for shipping, but this could have been a mistake with the online ordering system.
They don't seem to be very good for bits and pieces for rig making though. :(

I agree. Veals will give good advise and won't screw you for P&P.

Would have to agree with everyone. Veals to me are the best.
Made an order on a Tuesday morning and it arrived by Thursday.
Gerrys is also very good along with Harris for Lures.

The only problem is that the veals website does not work for me , as when I go to checkout it comes up "General Error, cannot read page" or something to that extent, does anyone else get this problem, any solutions? There is always the phone but its easier online, as you do not have to reel off a lengthy list of tiny bits, there sizes and quantitys and so on, so forth. Regarding Gerry's the only thing that would put me off would be the p&p charge. For the people who have ordered tackle off gerry's and veals, say €150 worth of tackle, do you feel you saved money when compared to buying in the irish tackle shops. I find it is much cheaper until the P&p is added which nearly brings it to the quote of an irish tackle shop.

I priced a Shakespear Beta Box and Gemni conversion kit with the various British based mail order tackle dealers. The Euro/ sterling exchange rate plus the P/P added a considerable amount to the final price.

I ended up buying the kit locally in John O' Briens - Waterford, he gave me a nice discount which was favaourably comparable to the mail order prices, However I also got advice / tips on the product and up to date info on current fishing hot spots - something that you don't get with mail order firms !!

I should have mentioned before, ebay can also be very good, but it can take a bit of searching sometimes. Usually once you find someone who deals in what you want and is prepared to ship to Ireland you will deal with them again.
As an example "Storm Thundersticks" (Apparantly v good for Bass):

Harris angling from £7.99ea + £0.70p&p
Ebay (Angling_at) $3.50ea + $9.00p&p (For shipping unlimited amount of similar sized items Internationally)

Just to repeat what everyone has already said - Veals! They are excellent and are willing to reduce prices to try and match other companies if they can.

They are the only company I feel 100% confident dealing with.

Glasgow AC are a nightmare, don't be tempted by the cheap postage. I have ordered from them 3 times and every time they have sent me the wrong product.

Tony's Tackle is worth a try too, if you have a specific rod/reel etc in mind give them a ring and ask for their best price (can often work out much better than advertised cost). However postage is expensive (35 sterling for a rod and reel).

I have never dealt with Gerry's but again postage is expensive - I was quoted 35 sterling for a rod and reel.

Whoever you deal with, make it clear that you ONLY WANT WHAT YOU ORDERED, NOTHING ELSE. They have a nasty habit of, for instance, sending you the multiplier model of the fixed spool rod you ordered, simply because the FS rod is out of stock.
