[b]Report:

Heard of this fish earlier in the week but took it with a pinch of salt.
Just came from the local tackle shop and they confirmed and said that they will send me some pics

i'd take it steamed with a nice white wine sauce, and a few new potatoes

I was in today. They said it was Tramore. Also said there was a 14lb fish caught, both on Lug I think. They must have been avoiding the nets and bumped straight into a hook. ........................Hold on, conspiracy theory here. Netter catches 18lb bass, wants to show off to friends, "Look what I caught lads", "Oh, on Lug of course".............Hmmmm. Apologies if I'm wrong as I dont know who caught the fish and it may be genuine but it could happen, couldnt it?

Wait 'til you see the pics. Fish caught in gillnets usually have pretty obvious net marks. Would give whoever caught it the benefit of the doubt til you see the evidence, takes away from his achievement if people are muttering about it without any proof....
18lb 6 tho, wow!
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

OK, take back what I said earlier in the thread. A mate was in Bobbys tackle shop in Tramore on Sat and he saw the pic. I apologise if I offended or doubted the lucky sod that landed the fish. It was just one of those thoughts that jump into your head. Nice sign put up at the pier in tramore though about Bass by the southern fisheries board. Maybe if they had an addendum about spotting for illegal gill nets aswell??

I haven't seen that sign yet. What does it say?

Thanks,

these signs have been put up all over the Waterford area. They remind people NOT to kill bass and tell of size and bag limits. ill take a pic later and post it.
