Results:Fish every cast, mostly small dabs with a couple of flounder until darkness when the dogs took over. Dogs every cast after dark with a couple of small whiting.
Report:Beautiful evening, had the beach to myself. No ray or even an early hound which I had outside hope for.

Of all the beaches from Greystones to Wicklow, I would probably put Newcastle around the bottom of the list. I would choose the right side of 5 Mile Point or either side of Killoughter over it on most occasions. Both these beaches attract a variety of species and have more in the way of offshore features than Newcastle. Kilcoole too overs variety with dirty ground to the left and clean to the right. Newcastle has some deep water to the left around the old shed area that used to produce good bags of codling but these catches are rare nowadays.
