SAI Boat competitions for 2013
Please let me know if you would be interested in competing in at least 3 competitions for the year so we can provide members to fish in the boat master angler comps?
I am certainly interested and would be happy to re-ignite our clubs boat scene and organise the venues and the boats with a little help from some of you of course.
Thanks,
Donal.

I'd be interested in taking part in the comps just for the craic and banter not to mention out fishing a few boats

Re: SAI Boat competitions for 2013
I suggest the following
The club book 6 charter trips for next year, assuming one cancelled due to weather leaving 5.
Venues like wicklow, kilmore quay, cork, kerry and clare, to include wreck fishing and shark fishing,
maybe a porbeagle trip in lough swilly
What really killed this in the past was the emphasis on boat casting at anchor as most anglers are
not interested in this, so the trips will be general boat fishing with a competition element (need to
check regulations here)
Also, to prevent a lot of messing, everyone who wants to participate paypals in 100 euros at the
start, which will be used to fund the deposits, and forfeited if you book a place and cancel or are late.
Used to pay for the last charter of the season or refunded at the end.
i would hope to get on average 5 people per trip, average charter cost around 100 euros
We should post reports and photos from each trip to keep interest alive
what do you think?

UP THE DEISE!!!!!!!
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Re: SAI Boat competitions for 2013
I would be interested in joining SAI for this however the cost of €100 per head needs to be looked at, this works at €500 if you fish all the comps. Most skippers charge around €400 and if you get 8 lads that's €50 a head

Re: SAI Boat competitions for 2013
JW the problem for me would be cost. If you are saying 100 euro for a charter with 5 on board you are paying €500 for the day think this is about €100 over the odds should be €400 per day.
Wicklow and Kilmore would be ok for me to do return trip but Cork, Kerry, Clare means B&B and more petrol as well. So day's fishing costs €200 approx Plus food and drink on top.
Would be interested in bringing my own boat to a few meets if they get organised.

Re: SAI Boat competitions for 2013
lads i'm just putting down round figures as a rough estimate, its not to make a profit,
the cost is obviously divided between the anglers on the day, but some wreck trips are 550
per day
dont understand the snide comments above either, please be constructive or post somewhere else

Re: SAI Boat competitions for 2013
Hi JW
Maybe it's be better to have the comps separate from shark/tope/wrecking trips, as it was in the past? Shark and wrecking tend to cost more

Re: SAI Boat competitions for 2013
There is No need to do wreck or shark trips for master angler selection comps, these kind of trips would need more of a specialised approach.it's sounds like someone is trying to put together a load of pleasure trips to me.
