PB Specimen Rockling Greystones
People: Me and Gergely
Duration: 7PM-01AM
Tide:Low to high
Weather:Strong SW Wind
Bait:Mack and Rag
Rigs:self made, nothing special
Results: 1 Rockling queen and 1 Whiting for Gergely
Report:
Straight in the first 10 minutes i had this beauty on the hook. I thought, its a cod, as she was not running like hell, but fighting like an angel. After several months, with weekly horrible results i thought, yes, today can be a good night...
I never gave it up, was every single weekend out, but for some reason, Greystones lost his well known nice fishes. Till March i got lots of coalies, pollocks, beautiful poutings, every fishing was there something. Since that time, everything has been changed.. I hear here and there, some guys had a nice night out, nice catches, but till this spring it was the opposite. There were some anglers, who sometimes had a blank, instead of catching sometimes a fish....
But still, lots of scorpions, veeery small rockling and sometime a small pouting.
So, this red lady as you see was not small at all, had no scale with me and so an other lad landed me his scale to have at least her weight. the scale stops at 1,6lb...
Gergely got also in the first few minutes a middle size whiting and those 2 fishes was the result till 1AM ... 6 hours for 2 fish...

Nice report and well done on your rockling. Fair play to you for staying out there for 6 hours after that catch...
By the way, where do you find rags this time of the year ?

Well done again, and good to meet you. Fair play to sticking it out for another 5 hours as when I left the fishing had died right down, but its therapy for all us nutters
by the way was talking to a few of the specimen hunters and that fish is just shy of the 1.75 lbs needed for it to be a specimen.
