Greystones North, 06/11

#1 Post by Kgarr »

People: Myself and CiaranG

Duration:20-23.00

Tide:HT @19.30ish

Weather:not too bad :D

Bait:rag & squid

Rigs:2&3 hook flappers

Results:Mackeral  Whiting 15-20cms

Report:

I'm dealing with a SWFF obsession and haven't been out with the bait rod in too long, so, decided to put away the SWFF gear till spring (let's see how that one goes  ) and hammered down the M50 as soon as work finished to try and catch the best of the HT. First cast out and the fish were on the feed! CiaranG was bringing in the whiting two at a time, and much to my surprise, I got a mack! in November  I was expecting to get a couple of more macks as my first cast was in quite close, but that was the only mack of the night. Things slowed down as the tide started pulling out, and we called it a day @ 23.00.
will def get out again next week, really want to catch some shore cod this winter. Pics attached in case you've never seen a whiting or mackeral before

just in front of the dart station Roger, nice spot, have you fished it before? It was a nice session alright, great to be back at the bait fishing. I'll see you at the Christmas comp with the ECR? was going to the Dunanny/Termonfeckin comp to say hi but turns out its on the same day as the missus's birthday

Well done on posting a report Kgarr  ,,,,,there's too few of them lately. I was on the pier on Friday night,,,,, very quiet night,,, and the lads there were wondering what it would have been like on the beach  ,,,,,,and now we know  ,,,so thank's again  . Might try the north beach,,,,,,the real one  ,,,next time if I can get down the bank in one piece(or more importantly back up again  ). With the weather expected to turn cold, the cod might come out to play

I was there too on Friday from 21 h to 23 h. The pier was packed with anglers and we saw very few fish landed. I think I've seen you, eyesreilly... but difficult to recognize somebody that I know only from pictures and who is wearing a bright headlamp. Next time I'll overcome my shyness and say hello :D

dave is very approachable and also loves it when people come over and give him advice  what you fishing there for? you wanna be casting way out there!have you no big hooks?that bait wont get you much! my headlamp cost more than both your rods!(the last one is neil  ) in fact i think he only goes for all the free advice and banter
