Fair play to you and congratulations on the Bass catches... you are almost the first angler of Bass in the forum that posts with all the background and location.

Good Luck and I hope the abusers won't be joining you soon at the mark!

Trying not to show too much ;). Propably locals will know where, but I'm not really sure if many visiting anglers would find it easily
But honestly - there's plenty of similar spots, this one is just close to home :D I think, that in the area anyone can find a place for himself.

As for today - lost one fish, similar size :)

Seen one in shop today - they are really nice :D
Also - a very interesting rod from... silstar. Company usualy known for rather shitty tackle - and a very nice spinning rod, 8', 10-42g, 2pce. Handle a bit too long, but... I just need to get a reel and see how it handles. 49 euros :)

Hi Hurler!
No kayak - as I don't have any "buddy" to go with. Water is to cold for a lone trip, for someone of my agility and swimming abilities ;) not to mention poor re-entry skills...
Would love to go for some yaking, but... I'm only a bit suicidal, this fall is rather sunny :D :D :D

I can think of a few Cork and Wexford boys who would keep you company with the kayaks
Fair play.

Your trout net is a bit underkill for bassing though. Wait till you have a double figure fish on the line at your feet, you'll be wishing you had a gye net like the salmon anglers!

It's not the trout net ;) just looks like one :D
One can easily pack inside 80cm fish :D
And, God please help me, to get one that doesn't fit :D

But - what are alternatives? Any idea where to get net large enough, that I can attach on a cord to D - ring on the back of my jacket? All the salmon models I've seen comes with a long handle.
I also thought about getting a good grip - like Boga or similar, but... I'm not really sure that it's safe for fish. Done a lot of pike fishing and such grips are nicknamed "neck brakers", also lifting fish by it's jaw can result in internal organs uncontrolled move and in a result - in a painfull and long death of a nice fish. I'm not sure if it applies to bass?

Lost 2 fish, they seems to be getting smarter, or gin-clear water spoils the fishing. First lost in a long run, as I try to force it to stop - it just went of hooks, second very same - did not strike in time...
Few more pics.

That was like me a year or two ago. Was trying for so long to catch one then once I got the first the rest seemed easy in comparison. Well done anyway, nice pics indeed. Did you use a tripod for the pics of yourself with the fish or had you got a companion? Don't think I would feel safe bringing my good camera to the beach while fishing. Have heard of two many horror stories involving cameras ending up at the bottom of a rock pool or in the ocean. Wouldn't mind so much If I had a companion there with me but most of my fishing is done on my sweeny todd.

Maybe you could stick up a post in the cameras and photgrapy section on the site if you find yourself bored with a few mins to spare. I am sure with the compliments your getting on your photo's you could pass on some tips? http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... m.php?f=29

Best of luck
Species 2012:

Cod, Whiting, flounder, coalfish, bass, pollack, sea trout, poor cod, pouting, dogfish, sea scorpion, 3 bearded rockling, blonde ray, painted ray, turbot.

Photos were taken by an angler fishing close to me. I carry a small tripod from LIDL, it is small, barelly able to hold DSLR camera but... I'm already packed as a mule when fishing, so carrying a normalnDSLR tripod, that weights ap 3 kg is not an option ;)
If it's to windy - I use rocks etc to place camera. But - there is not much of control than and pics are usually pure "documentation", as both quality is not very good, and they tends to show a bit too much ;) .
As for drowning the camera - I use Pentax K-7 with WR lenses - this camera is fairly sealed and waterproof. Though - it will not survive submerging it in the water, some splashes and humindity is not affecting it - you can rince it under the shower.
I carry it in a fairly waterproof bag, but - I must say, that few times as I was covered by a wave (I often go far) I poured water out of the bag. Any Nikon would be probably long dead, but pentax is live and kicking :D

As for advice, I don't feel im on the level allowing to give any advice to anyone, I'm just starting, and... don't have much to say.
I can only pass advice given to me by my more advanced frends:
-always shot in RAW, not jpg format
-always keep you RAWs
-Use M - manuall setting, it will help you to learn faster
-Lense is more important than body - good lense will make a decent photo with a poor body, and even the best body won't make any good with a poor lenses.
-If limited by budget it's sometimes better to go for an older model of body and better lense, than a new model with kit lense.

I try to apply to those guidelines given to me by well more advanced guys.
But honestly - I'm rather a novice, both to bass fishing (I caught only 5 so far) and photos...
