#1 Post by fishfeatures »

Am moving up to north wexford and have never fished that part of the county before. Can someone put me on to some good rock marks and what can i expect to find ? Also rough directions to some of these places.... PM's greatly appreciated guys..
Also what areas are good for shore fishing too??

Really don't want to leave south beaches but work dictates nowadays...

Wherebouts in north wexford most of the rock marks are over clean sand .

The rocks around cahore and courtown are packed with dogfish.Probably better of stickin to the beaches

Won't be that far from Cahore , only 10 mins away. Don't like the sound of all the dogfish, are there many areas that are good for rock hopping up along that way? I'll give the beaches a go but I do like my LRF.

Worst place in the world to predict a tide, the difference between high and low along there in unnoticeable most of the time

Easytide is a bit cr@p , never even close to my tide table and that's accurate .

Try this http://www.fishingwx.com/longrange.php .

edit: That was the default search page for Hastings ,uk . Try this http://www.fishingwx.com/index.php and click on the map or type address .

There's rocks from which you can fish (Cahore Point, Roney point etc) but as was mentioned before, you'll be mostly fishing over clean ground. These marks will produce bass to lures in the right conditions, but for the best of the shore fishing in North Wexford you'd be best off bait fishing from the beaches. Smoothies on crab bait in the summer, bass & flounder on lug in the autumn. Otherwise it's just dabs, whiting and more dogfish than you can shake a stick at. I reckon anybody with the patience & time to figure out the lure fishing potential for bass along this coastline could have a lot of success. The mullet in Courtown harbour are also worth mentioning. And I used to catch congers up to 20lbs from Cahore Pier, although that was over 20 years ago.
