Report:The plan was to head ro Dingle to target a specimen small eyed ray and dab. Glad to stay i achieved both. Drove down on Wednesday afternoon and headed to the first mark in search of small eyed ray. Setup and first cast i was into a small eyed, went about 6 lbs and things looked good. Then not another touch in an increasingly blustery wind until close to 21.00 when i had a big pull on one of the rods. After a bit of a tussle an 11lb 1oz ray was safely landed, winspan 59cm. That was the last bite of the night so after another hour headed to the cottage as i planned an early start in the morning in search of big dab. Up bright and early and on the mark well before dawn. Set up with clipped paternosters and size 1 hooks baited with razor or peeler crab and waited... Not a touch for the first 3 hours and then 2 fish in 2 casts both went about 37cm and weighed 1.35 and 1.45 lbs respectively. One of the dab took the razor the other peeler. Last cast i had a small thornie about 4 lbs on razor. Packed up shortly after and headed for something to eat. That night i headed back to the small eyed ray mark for a 3 hour session before driving home and although no specimens i had another 2 small eyed, one 5 lbs and the other 6.5 lbs.
