west cork bass session report

#1 Post by sandblaster »

date:28/9/2012
my first ever report
tide: last 2 hours of flood to 1 hour of ebb
bait:razorfish
rig:pulley pennel 3/0 hooks[http://s1188.photobucket.com/albums/z41 ... 2359e6.jpg http://s1188.photobucket.com/albums/z41 ... 28c33c.jpg
result:2 bass 1 dogfish

had a go on one of my favourite west cork marks the other night first couple of casts produced that dreaded jap weed in rod bending chunks .third cast and the weed seemed to have cleared and two short taps on the rod followed by a heavy wallop! and i was into my first bass that in typical bass style raced towards me before putting up a nice battle .turned out to be a beauty of about 7lb -result! next cast produced another solid take and i lifted into what felt like another good fish that put up a great scrap.it was another beauty just slightly smaller than the first 6.5lb .next few casts produced just one slack line bite and after winding up all the slack felt nothing but it had to have been a bass as i was fishing at distance and the rig was dragged at least a third of the way in .another cast produced my first ever doggy from the mark as it is quite shallow .an hour into the ebb and the weed reappeared so i decided to call it a night . all in all a good short session oh and all fish were returned .

The finest gift you can give a fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
