People: Just me
Duration: 5:30 - 9:30
Tide: End of the rise/Start of the ebb
Weather: Great at first, but wet later
Bait: Rag, squid & sandeel
Rigs: 2 hook flappers, Pennel rigs
Results: 3 plaice, 1 flounder, a squillion dabs
Report: Fished one rod in close with tipped worm baits and one at distance with whole sandeel. the close rod never stopped bouncing for the night - I was missing everything till I went down a few hooks sizes and then it was a fish a cast for the rest of the session.
The pennel rigged sandeels weren't touched for the night until the last cast, when the rod nearly got ripped out of the tripod. I struck and had him for about 5 secs until something gave. When I reeled in the 30lb snood had been bitten through :(
Was planning on staying longer, but in a moment of insanity when I was returning a dab, I walked out following a receding wave to put him back into the water, forgetting that a wave going out is generally followed by another coming in! It was a bit too cold for standing in 2 wellies full of water all night...

Hiya Ian
I was beside the rocks at the very start of the beach (I was on my own so didn't want to lug all the gear too far from the car). I was only casting about 50 yards for the dabs and twitching it back in a few inches every 30 secs or so till I got a bite. I went down to size 2 Aberdeens and that managed to hook most of the bites (and happily enough, none were deep hooked)
