booner wrote:er, wud need to get that info off my pal, he is more up to date re. that sort of thing, i saw him catch a few then raided his gear for my own entertainment! it was 'cone head' weight ontop of an unusual 'rigging' soft plastic hook, there is a knack to mounting the lure so that it is presented ideally, the lures were quite dull in colour and more worm than fishlike, and just 'trotted' about in deep weedy areas. good luck
Cool. It actually sounds like an Owner Bullet type jig head. I have a few of them, they are great for fishing rock marks.

Its the first one on this page.

yes magpie, very similar, hook identical except for lead, my pal prefers to add cone head weight to hook and lure, that lure in the picture would be very close to what i was using, however, i imagine you could use any on the market

im not a techy when it comes to rod n reel either, i was using a 10ft stiffish spinning rod and medium fixed spool with 18lb mono....... i think braid is recommended for 'feel', but i was happy enough with my set up

maybe you are not masking the hook point properly< check the link on magpie01's post at the top of this page............ look at the first image very closely and you will see that the hook point is well concealed in the worm, after each cast this should be checked and this should eliminate a whole lot of snag ups
