bigger the better for peice of mind, but I'd go with about an 800-1000 gph pump.
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot

Make sure you battery is up to the job as well. Rule do an 800GPH Automatic pump woth a 19mm (3/4 inch) outflow. I think it's about €60 in Marine parts. Once you go higher than this you are up to higher draw on your battery as well. Nothing worse that arriving to your boat to find it nice and dry, but the battery wont start the engine. Fully discharging your battery can do damage as well. A decent Solar trickle charger will help avoid this.

Re: CJR bilge pump
very important to have .a float switch .also id would recommend having the pump on a seperate battery with solar trickle see http://www.boat-angling-ireland.com/php ... f=1&t=7523 this was a friend of mines boat .during a deluge in july the boats pumps drained the battery.it filled with rain and was submerged by the incomming tide.it took 2 days to try and get the boat out of the silt needless to say it was a right off.boats sink at there moorings regularly so invest in a good pump. it should be the only time you need it, is while its moored.
