what an outrage . how could this go unnoticed for 26 hrs http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0830/gross- ... beach.html and to make it worse its made europian news http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-19421603 a ban should be put in place on fishing shellfish and prawns straight away before someone is poisoned

I don't think it's gonna make any difference I grew up in Hampton cove where the sewer pipe is ,up until a few years ago raw sewage was pumped in every day for years ,we still got plenty of fish off the beach ,we even swam there in the summer ( depending on the tide ,ie direction the s*** balls were flowing),but the beach is way cleaner these days and the water clears up days sooner after a blow,so in short it was a small incident blown way out of proportion, but still unexeptable though

Shocking that there are no redundancies in place to prevent this sort of thing from happening. Rush was closed a few weeks ago for an e coli outbreak as well, not sure if it was the same problem that just went unreported. There is a sewerage line that goes out to sea from Rush so maybe that problem was caused by currents washing it back in to shore.
