Dalriada - 14/04/05

#1 Post by glengormley-gavin »

People: Me and the nephew

Duration: 21.00 - 01.30

Tide: HT just after midnight

Weather: Calm, around 5'c

Bait: Rag, mack, sandeel

Rigs: up and over clip down, 2 hook pater, 2 hook scratching rid and a pulley pennel

Results: 3 coalie, 3 codling, 1 flounder & 1 LSD

Report:

Enjoyable evening at Dalriada, it was a bit on the cold side but not too bad.

Things were slow to start but picked up as the tide filled and then turned. Most fish were caught close in, 10 - 30 yds while the LSD was taken at distance (100 yds).

I also managed to retrieve a rig, 4oz gripper and leader which snapped off during my last visit to this mark

Not a bad night and at least we managed to land a few fish.

interesting enough to make you go back out again. Speaking of getting rigs back, I found a rig + about 100 yards of tangled line just lying on the beach last week where someone had dumped it. No wonder anglers have sometimes a bad name.

2 mates fished it yesterday and got a few plaice and coalies off it. nothing of much size, best around 1lb, though they said that someone got a plaice around 2 - 2.5lb off it.

GG you out practicing again? Some day you'll realise that you are supposed to tie you leader to your main line. That is usually enough to get your rigs back in 1 piece

Only joking. :)
