People: me and my friend

Duration: 11pm-4.30am

Tide:low at 1.30am

Weather:dry with strong southish wind

Bait:mackerel

Rigs: conger rigs

Results: 2x congers

Report: deside to try for conger eel this year, just to fill my spesies list while is not to late, I'v choosed the venue where i have cought couple of nice eels last year, so didn't bother to look for something fancy. Arrived at the mark just few minutes before 11pm, wind was blowing stright at me, but wasn't to bad as it was worm enough.
first two hours was totaly slow with just little knoks, and nothing else. As tide start to rise first strong bite showed up and first conger of the year has been cought. Then bites were more common, but with no joy, due to very broken sea bed, seems that sinker is snagging somewhere half way in, and another thing that is not that deep. Anyway I simply just kept going losing plenty of gear. One of my rods didn't showed any action for a long time, and I just wondered why :?: Then it bends, I striked and a fight was on, another conger was flapping on the pier, it wasn't a monster, but still great fighter, but when I went to unhook it I figure out why it was so long, a small three beard rockling jumped out from a jaws of the eel, poor rockling was already crushed by powerfull jaws of the conger, so I just trew him back in the sea, but don't thing that he could have any chance, and just after I thought I made a mistake, may I should keep it for the bait as he was already dead, this mark is great spot for the rocklings, and maybe often is hunted by ells, and I believe that it could be great bait for congers, but anyway I wouldn't bother to cath another one just to try.
Well actually this was it, nothing was cought after that, just more lost tackle, well you have to give something to get something.
Just at the dawn i packed up and on the way stopped at the St. John's point to replace my mackerel stocks, in couple of hours got about 20 of them, and had to go, becouse this spot got very tight with place as it was weekend there was good dozen anglers bashing a mackerels, so this is it for now

Good report there Grady, mission accomplished. Good to see there are a few Mackerel around the bay, I'm hoping to get out myself this week.

Well done Grady! Persistence paid off. Had a very slow day in Inishowen on Saturday, not even the flounder were interested
