First off thanks to everyone who sent me a Pm.After checking the weather we decided to fish Wensday evening and all Thursday.On arriving down to a new mark we had never fished we could hardly see our hands in front of our faces with the fog but after getting down to the shore conditions were perfect.
We started off on light gear fishing surface lures and poppers.The Pollock were feeding thick and fast all in the 2-4lb mark.I switched to a rappala jerk bait ,fishing it with two jerks and 4 second stops.This seemed to work a treat with two bass in quick succession.
Time to leave then as it was getting dark and it was a bit of a trek back up the cliff.
We moved to ballyquinn and set up the shore gear,again conditions were perfect.Not much going on but it was a beautiful night to be out.Just before we left I managed a small sholie and we called it a night at half three.
Back up at 7 and down another cove off helvik.The fog was still about and not a puff of wind,perfect for the fly rod, the sun was starting to beat down.Again the pollock were still on and I managed a nice 4lb on the fly.The fog started to clear around 12ish and the water came alive with sand ell and macks so it was time to move on.
We headed east towards stradbally, at this stage the sun was well up and the fog had cleared,my fantastic Irish tan bare witness to that.The bass seemed to have moved on at this stage so we tried some bait over the rough ground and Kev managed a nice red cod around the 4lb mark.
A great session and good weather what more could we have asked for.
