Tackle shops in New York

Hi All,

I'll be headin to NYC on Saturday and was wondering if anyone knows of any good tackle shops worth a visit? I'll be staying 5 mins from Time Square if that helps? Any info appreciated.

Don't forget to drop into WallMart while you're over, it full of bargains and titbits for fishing..

I would double check regarding the Penn 525......there is not many shopss in the US who sell the 525Mag, check its not the standard GS model.....anyone selling 525mags will have to import them in from the UK.

Penn (US) are not due to start and make then until sometime this year.

I've got in a 525mag from the US that are made in the US. My understanding is 525gs reels and 525mags are modified by Penn uk to make 525gsmags and the 525 supermag. The only difference is my US bought 525mag had a crome handle that was way more solid than the uk bought version.

Would second Viper on the Walmart gig.

They are out in Secacus. That was the closest one to Manhattan I could find. It's just over the river on the Jersey Side (i think). You get the train from Penn Stn and its the first stop. It will not take you much time about 10mins if memory serves. you can take a taxi but they are not keen to cross the river cos its "outa state" The only problem may be getting a taxi from the stn to the mall.Well worth the visit.

I found the tackle shops in Manhattan only Ok. I didn't but anything much there. Did wreck at walmart! Don't forget the Levis at $17.00 you just gotta!!!!!
