Squid, Mackeral:

Feathers, Hokais, Eels,:

Mackeral, Pollack, Ling, Cod, Haddock, Pouting, Cuckoo wrasse, Grey and Red Gurnard, Whiting, Coalfish:

Great Days fishing with John Brittan. An absoloute gentleman. 8 Ling to 14lbs, 4 Cod to 8lbs, 4 Haddock to 3lbs. Numerous Pollack to 7lb. 20 ish whiting to 2lb. A shortage of mackeral that was made worse by John cooking up mackeral for us on the barby, but it was well worth it as they were delicious. Lots of fish on the sounder but they were hard to catch due to combination of really bright weather, possible leftover effect of the bloom and a lot of beginners on the boat. I personally caught my first Haddock (Thanks for all the help) and had a PB on the Ling (14lb). I also had 9 of the 11 species caught on the day, which made a good day great. I will be back with John again for sure.

Hi Twinkle,

Caught him on a 2 up 1 down rig. He took the middle hook. Squid was the bait. The other 3 took baited feathers with mackeral. They are a really lovely looking fish when fresh.

Sounds like a good trip!!! Where abouts did ye fish? Was it around Inishnofin? I am heading up next weekend to fish taht area for a week.

PM Sent. Made the mistake of mentioning a good fishing area before (not on this forum) and gill netters had the place covered before I knew it. So hopefully PM ing is safer. I dont want to upset the skipper by publically revealling his marks.

If there are haddock about and you want to pick them out, a single ragworm on a long flowing nailed to the bottom does the trick and seems to pick them out every time. Crab will bring in cod ahead of the haddock. Appears the cod get there first... not that most people would be complaining. I saw this work a treat on a mark in Clew Bay. Ragworm guaranteed haddock.

hi caz, was out with john on saturday and had similar results, fresh mack straight onto the bbq will not be beaten in the best resturants, a good days fishing is hard to beat .damian
