A session after the Courtown comp

#1 Post by donal domeney »

People: Myself

Duration: A little over 2 hours

Tide:

Weather: Lovely fishing out of the back of the jeep

Bait: Crab

Rigs: Pulley Rigs

Having got no hound during the comp  I was determined to tough it out and stay with it.
A 440km round trip without a hound just was not on.
After the long walk back from the peg to the car park it was back to fishing the lazy way   . So it was into the Pajero out the gap and onto the beach .

The plan was a few beers :D :D a few fish a kip in the Pajero B&B and head home in the morning.
With 2 baits in the water and a fresh battery in the headlamp it was sit and wait. It wasn’t long before little bites started to show on the first rod Oh no pin   whiting again so I let it for a while in the hope it would either choke and croak or head off 8) . Eventually I reeled it in and to my surprise  a little pup hound. It took a while to get a picture because it kept hiding behind the stones   . With the photo call done it was back in the water with him and a new bait back out.
pup.jpg
While baiting up a spare rig and by back turned to the rods suddenly my butt and the butt of the rod met each other at speed  . After the initial shock I grabbed the rod now this was no pup and after it took me for a small along the beach the hound was lander. A quick measure and weigh 93cm and just over 5lb.
hound 2.jpg
Within no time the rod that had caught the pup was on the go again and another hound was landed.
hound 3.jpg
That was 3 in 3 casts so the Lidl beer was put away and the Scrumpy Jack :D :D was opened. Next in were 2 dogs followed by another hound and another 2 dogs.
hound 4.jpg
The next cast on each rod came in blank. Out went 2 fresh baits and while within a few minutes one rod was on the go so I grabbed it and started to reel in and with a clattering sound in the back ground I looked around to see the other rod on the ground and another hound hooked.

So 6 hounds and 4 dogs made it worth staying around. :D :D :D

I thought I was off to the folk's place for a good kip, but my dad felt like a chat and it was nearly six by the time I hit the hay  . I'll have a report on the Courtown Comp up tomorrow. Well done on the session, Donal.

Nice one Donal,
must have been nice to give the old 525's a proper workout, just make sure to give them a drop of oil soon as they are probably a bit stiff and sore after that session
