Poolbeg - 09/07/2012

#1 Post by myworldfishing »

Myself, my better half. the brother in;aw and his other half:

3 hrs:

out:

Great/ Crap:

Crab, squid and rag:

Bertys:

2 Pollock:

Needed to get out of the house for a while so I off loaded the kids and got herself and the others together for a local trip. headed to poolbeg and hit the light house for some mac bashing. Got there and it was full of people with the same idea. We found a spot that would allow us to fish with 2 rods so setup and put the line out...

The weather was lovely to begin with and there was mac being caught beside us but not a hint of a fish for us..

After being there near an out a chap beside us landed a hound (stary) on a strip of mac. So I cracked out the peelers and changed to a pulley to see if I could search one out. Nop, not even a sniff. After a while everyone else was gone, dusk was upon us but I noticed some fish touching the top in close and with the notion of a bass I stuck on a small lure and climbed down the slippy slope...

First cast a small pollock, about 1lb.

Few more casts with hits on all casts I landed another pollock of the same size.

Thats when the rain started and the girls started to give out, so I headed to the half moon for the shelter of the wall, it didn't work because we got p!ssed on...

I have fished better weather in the middle of October.

We braved the rain for a while but admitted defeat and headed home like drowned rats at 11:30. Maybe next time I'l get me hound...

Sorry theres no pics but both pollock slipped back into the water while I was reaching for my camera.

unlucky mate with the hounds but there is no need to go all the way to the lighthouse for the hounds about 200 yards from the car is fine plus the tides were not great for down there yesterday evening you would want a 3.9 meter or above to give you the best chance
