would i catch mackeral over in galway this time of the year?
would i catch mackeral over in galway this time of the year? or is it too early?? thanks Joe

quick answer... NO... unless your in a boat, then maybe
its too early and cold at the moment... also need a fairly hot week or two to bring them into the bay...
the earliest ive ever caught one as the first week in may back in '98.. remember the hot april/may we had.... fishin for doggies and up popped a shoal of mack about ten feet from where i was standin(inever set up the second rod as fast) only pulled one out of them, but it still counted..
there seems to be a few resident shoals around clifden and roundstone..
but not in galway...YET...
its too early and cold at the moment... also need a fairly hot week or two to bring them into the bay...

aye there's quite a few residential mack up there, deep waters and enough food for them not to move too far... knew some one who caught them all year round of the rocks at teelin.. baited feathers and a good cast out... catch anything doing that there :lol: :lol:
