Greystones 2-7-12

#1 Post by eyesreilly »

People:me

Duration:8pm-10pm

Tide:rising

Weather:nice, dry, mild, calm

Bait:leftover lug, squid,

Rigs:2 hook flappers

Results:Ballan Wrasse, Blenny, Whiting, Pollock, and Sea Scorpion (1 of each  )

Report:Had some leftover lug starting to stink in my bait fridge (which has been taken over by my son and his friends as their Beer Cooler  ), so after going round to my Ma's for some apple tart and cream (Thanks Ma  ,even though I know you don't read the Shore Reports  ) I was just in the mood for a trip down the M50 and Greystones. The Harbour had plenty of rods going so I went round the corner and set up in peace. I tried my best to thread the large , gone off and ballooned up lugs onto some size 2 hooks and dropped them into the rocks below me. There was immediate interest from what turned out to be a nice little Ballan Wrasse and i succeeded in lifting him up for a snap. He was to be my only wrasse of the session, I think I left it a bit late ,as the sun was sinking behind the large houses behind me (I'd love to live there  ), i'd say i'd have had more if i'd arrived an hour or so earlier. The wrasse seem to disappear as the sun sets  . At least there were some people watching who must have thought I was a great angler , getting a fish straight away 8) . Next up was a small Blenny who was a bit bleary eyed, must have had a hard night  . I was thinking what a good idea it had been to come out, better than dumping the bait anyways, I hate doing that  I had 2 frozen crab that had thawed out since my Saturday night smoothie session, so I tried them to see if they could tempt anything else out. Instead of the monster wrasse or pollock that I was expecting, up to the surface there came a small pollock, but at least it was a fish. Nothing else went for the crab, cut in halves and threaded onto small hooks :x . Back to the bursting point Lug so,,,,,,,the bites had dried up and I had lost a rig to the kelp,,,so I tied on another and dropped it down and after a short time , I reeled in a small Sea Scorpion. At this stage, the effects of my Ma's apple tart had worn off and i decided to call it a night ,,,,,,,,,,,I packed up , bringing my rubbish home to stink up my own bin  . I forgot to mention that I had another rod out a bit further, to no avail, apart from a whiting .
EPILOGUE
After bidding farewell to his favourite fishing haunt and his dream house across the road,,,,,,Dave O Reilly finished his perfect night off with a Junior Box (with a Breast) from his favourite Roma Café,,,,,,,,,Multi Gratzi Mario
