mayo beach mark 29-06-2012

#1 Post by saving private brian »

People:me and a mate

Duration:22.30pm-00.20am

Tide:hw @ 20.45pm so was filling

Weather:showery,,wind N/W,,,nice active surf,,,

Bait:mack and sandeel

Rigs:flappers

Results:loads of seatrout from 1/4lb to 2lb(maybe a little more)

Report:being keeping an eye on the weather lately and noticed that the wind was to veer around to the n/w from a south to s/w direction,,,the beaches around here have being pretty flat due to southerly conditions and with it swinging i knew it was gonna throw up a bit of a lump and create a feeding frency for the trout in the surf,,,got me mate to come along(dont ask me how i convinced him  ) and we both arrived at the mark to be spot on about the conditions,,,banged out 2 rods each and with in minute the fish were strikeing,,,,boom bang,,,trout mania again,,we just took a few pics of the first few that came in,,,,both of my rods went knocking together at one stage,,,,,from scitters to nice beefy trout,,,wind picked up around midnight aswell as the heavy rain so called it a nite,,,not even a sign of a flat or never have i got one on this mark but the next time i will try it will be 2 hours either side of the low in which i havent tried yet,,great way to spend an evening,,,,,all fish were returned

cheers brian

up here in the northwest we dont have the scale of bass quanties that they do in the s/w////s or s/e but we do generally get good runs of trout and some decent ones too,,,i find mayo, sligo and donegal the hotspots for them but you will get them eleswhere and around the counrty
