Charter Boat Recommendations

#1 Post by WicklowAngler »

Hi all,
I just joined the site today, currently in North Carolina, USA, My girlfriend and I are coming to visit family and the end of July and first of August. We would like to get on a fishing charter boat of some kind. I am not familiar with the charter business in Ireland but have been doing some research and would like some input from the locals. We don't want a 500euro charter to have the boat to ourselves, we would rather spend 50-70 euro each for a full or half day charter depending on whats biting and how well they are biting. We will be staying in Arklow, but plan to make a trip over to Connemara. I would like any input on who to charter with as well as who not to, location and species doesn't matter (although sharks are always fun) we are willing to travel to have a successful trip. So, if you were to go on a fishing charter anywhere in Ireland, who would you go with and why?

Cheers
Michael

Connemara? Try Mary Gavin-Hughs for the possibility of hauling a tabletop off the seabed.

I checked out Mary's site, pretty impressive, thanks for the input. As for Conemara, that's somewhere that my lady wants to visit so I figured I would try to make a fishing trip out of it.

Hi There,

Theres only one place for you in connemara in my opinion...............

See attached link :

http://seafishingireland.net/

John is ine of the best skippers in the country, if you book early enough you might be able to share a charter .......or jump in with a small group if he has one ........

They have super accomodation there and sue is an expierienced walker too if you want to get the heads up on exploring the area or heading out to inishbofin for a look around.

I have been there many times with a group and with my missus, would recommend it highly

Enjoy your time in connemara...................

Hello Michael,we run charters every month out of our tackle shop, fishing the South West coast of Cork. These trips are open to all, Our next charter was to have been tomorrow 30th But due to predicted winds, has been postponed. you can get the next date soon on our Facebook page 'bait all tackle' and reserve places if that suits you. Happy hunting.
