Wicklow 25/06

#1 Post by Kgarr »

People:myself, the brother and the Russian

Duration: 19-03.00

Tide:HT @ 3am

Weather: pleasant

Bait: rag,mack,squid

Rigs:flappers

Results:Bass 40cm, pup hounds, bull Huss, flounder, more dogs than you could shake a stick at.

Report:A good night fishing in surprisingly summery weather(weed free!)The Russian (Alexey) strutted onto the beach at 20.30, and landed a welcome 40cm bass within 15 mins! We released him after a few pics and quickly baited up again, thinking that the next bass was only a cast away... Not to be! Another angler landed a fine bass further down the beach but this was the last bass we saw that night, he must have been over 80cm!A solid slab of silver.
All was quiet for a while then in came the dogs, the brother Ciarain landed a pup hound and was very pleased with his first hound, I can't wait to see him land a bigger one.
I finished the night up at 3ish with a Huss and dog on my line, first Huss so well pleased

Will post pics later as on iPhone at the mo

Really this bass 40 cm ? Did you stretched the fish to get it into the legal size limit ? :D

I released yesterday 39cm ...

Of course this bass was released, and..... by a foreign national! What? No fish soup?
Unfortunately the other bass down the beach ended up in a bag, pity, but he is feeding his family with it so what can you say?

Well done ! :) Took also yesterday 48cm bass home, just cooking now :)
But stop pressing the foreign nationality button, really hate that labeling !
Just on the pic the fish looks way smaller than 40cm. Never mind, nothing personal here, i always loved fishermens stories :)

Nice fishing mate ! , the dorsal fin in a pup tope is black at the tip which you can clearly see in your photo and a pup hound hasn't got that .
