its a pretty well known area - teelin.
you could get away with it fishing in closer but its when you blast it out as far as you can and with the depth by the time it hits the bottom it looks almost like your lead is only about 50yds out the angle of the line is so steep!! it just seems to lay onto top of the rocks on its way down there!
having said that excellent fishing can be had in very close as well
out on the sand beyond the rough ground it must produce some of the biggest red gurnard ive ever seen off the shore, most of them match the size of good boat caught ones!
the extra winching power of the 535 also comes in handy on the retrieve to avoid the snags.
ps; drew, waita i get me hands on you....!!!

Cheers Phil, is the 80 yards of line to counteract possible birdies... :D Theres a spot like that at the Bridges in Clare, cast it out and every time it ends up virtually at your feet.... Scary stuff. Must try and give that spot a go in the summer alright.
Fluff chucking is the new black..... Rampant Wreckfish is a fly angler in denial

penn
Ok lads thanks again took advice and just got a second penn 525 mag instead of a 535 same bloke got last of.
But may have bit more than i can chew this fella is in sea angler next mnth doing a story on reels and casting.
These are to of his old penn mags as they to fast for me he put better brakes and more in them to slow like the supermag.
I took to park and scared myself very fast compared to my 7ht but i will have to learn so if some one can tell me when the next casting meet is on so i can learn to use kit correctly.
