Fly Fishing, what line to use to catch bass?
I'm a beginner to saltwater fly fishing and I'm trying to figure out what fly line is best to start with; intermediate or floating line and which one is the best one to catch bass!?
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

Make sure to get a wf line and be sure the weight rating matches your rod. The wf lines are easier to cast than a dt as far as floating or sinking lines it all depends on the ground you fish as your the line will only allow you to cover different depths .

The new Guideline lines are great. Slow intermediate is a great saltwater line. A floater is all you need for estuary fishing, imo.
If you are using big flies in the open ocean, you'll need a wf line that has its weight towards the tip of the line, this will help turn over budgie sized flies.
Shooting heads are very versatile because you can pop a few in your pocket and you'll be prepared for anything.
