Bass lure advice for covering all bases!

#1 Post by SlackLiner »

Hi all, I'm thinking on heading down to Waterford next month to fish the Irish Bass Festival and I'm looking to stock up on some decent lures to cover as many situations as I can (afford!). Would anyone be willing to recommend a few killers or point out some obvious ommissions? I currently have...

1xTackle House Feed Shallow (SlitHG Sardine)
1xIMA Sasuke 140 (Limited Edition Silver Sardine)
2xYo Zuri Crystal Minnow F (Blue Mackerel and Clown)
1xRapala J13 (Blue)
1xSavage Gear 4play Swimbait (Minnow)
2xRapala X -Rap (Silver Blue and Silver)
1xYo Zuri Mag Popper (Gold Tiger)
And a pile of metal and soft plastics!

Def going to get another tackle house feed shallow but in Pearl Rainbow and maybe an IMA Komono II with possibly of splashing out on a Megabass Zonk Gataride 120 if im feelin particularly flush. Anyone willing to offer some input? Would especially like to hear from some locals if possible and I understand if folk want to send PM's and keep things secret. I should also point out that I'm entering the competition for the craic and chance to latch into some decent fish so I cant even hope to be compeditive, i.e. theres no danger of me using any information against you - I just want to increase my chance of catching a bass or two :)
Cheers!

kenny the lures you have listed are all good stuff. The one I would have the most fath in is a House Feed Shallow 128 in Ayu.

Havent tried the Ayu colour before Tom, will have a look. Seriously good those THF shallow's, I've had sea trout, bass (hooked and lost!), pollock and pike on them. Cast like hell too :)

Thanks nicefish. I had a look at the IMA Hound SF 120 as another possible shallow lure, apparently they are great distance lures too. Will definitely look into these, thanks again k

hi slackliner , i would also include one or two lures of yellow or chartreuse in case the water is carrying some colour which is quite possible with the weather we're having at the moment ,pink lures also work well in these conditions-hope this helps.

Thanks bigballs, you're right, I'm getting my geography mixed up! I knew it was in that general area somewhere!

Great info sandblaster, many thanks. All my lures are all quite silvery and I had been thinking something brighter might be a good idea if the water was dirty. Will def take that on board, cheers :D

Yeah had a good nosey, plenty of ideas on there from down that way, cheers :D

Thanks for all the advice guys and esp for the PM's - plenty of great info in there. I think I've settled on an IMA Komono II or SF in pink candy or red berry with a house feed shallow in ayu. I recon that will cover most eventualities.

Thanks again for all the help lads :D
