penn boat reel line guide getiing jamed. HELP.

i have a PENN GTI320 with a line guide . today while fishing the guide started getting stuck on one side and not lettin the line lay even. it would relese its self after 4 or 5 turns but when it worked its way back it would get stuck again. is the reel finished?. im not good at fixin reels and im wondering if there is some one who would have a look at it.its been washed after every use and minded. .

Same thing happened on my 320 and 310. I just took them apart and totally removed the whole levelwind assembly. Simple enough job and IMO the reels are better off without it.

As above its the only way out it will happen to everyone of them. The end of the worm gets worn and refuses to go back.

thanks lads . its a better answer than i taught. i taught it was for the bin. is it a hard job to remove the line level and if i do get it out do i have to cover the hole where the bar is going across.?. or dose that stay..? .

I took the lot out and put a bit of tape over the outside of the holes then filled it from the inside with Araldite.... peeled the tape off next day and had a nice smooth finish.

If you undo the screw at the bottom of the levelwind you will notice a small stub of metal, its called a pawl, this has worn over time and caused your problem. you can replace them fairly inexpensively but you have to order your part from England. Try calling

Hi mann, thats a great idea i wasnt sure what to do with the holes. the araldite you said where would i get some or what is it mostly used for , thanks for the reply. .

I tape the tubes together end to end as i always have trouble finding both of them in a hurry, Fixed a small leak in a boat a 3 years ago and forgot about it till now... its still holding

HI ALL, WELL I TRYED THE NUMBER MR RMG83 GAVE ME. CHEERS MAN. I CALLED THIS NUMBER AND A VERY HELP FLLY MAN GAVE ME A NUMBER FOR A SUPPLYER OVER HERE TO SAVE ME THE POSTAGE. IM NOW SENDING MY REELS TO THAT SUPPLYER AND HE IS GOING TO SUPLLY AND FIX MY PENN REELS. THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED ME OUT ON THIS PROBLEM AND ILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THE REELS GO WHEN THEY RETURN.
