ennereilly
Hi All,
I'm new on the sea-angling-ireland forum and in sea fishing business as well and I was hoping to get some advice here. We'll be camping in ennereilly beach this weekend and using this opportunity I wanted to try night fishing there. I'm aware of closed season for bass but not entirely sure how it works - is fishing during this time completely banned or I just have to release accidentally hooked bass?
I was hoping to pull a flounder or two - is there any recommended bait or technique I should stick to?
Thanks,
cube

Thanks ShaneH, this answers first question
I hope I won't have problems with my homemade fishfinder rig with size 1 hook and lug (if I manage to dig some today), to be honest I have very poor idea what am I "targetting" with such setup. Hopefuly more than a handful of seaweed.

Thanks Dave, I have looked at earlier posts and others say the same. It's sad - we have picked this very beach because it looked quite remote, not crowded and there is a house by the car park. I wouldn't even think we can expect something like this there. We'll either stick to the south side near the car park or head somewhere else, this is first time I managed to convince my lady to go with us and don't want it to be the last time too.dave mc gregor wrote:em iv heard a few stories about enneriley beach lately of gangs of lads coming down to people camping and robbing their gear etc etc , and i saw a recent write up in the fisheries board specimen book about a couple of anglers on different occasions who have had a lot of trouble on that beach and wont go back again,,, im not sure what truth is in it but it be worth checking out firstly,,,, i have camped on it a couple yrs back with my kids and some friends and we were grand and had a brill nights fishing, , im not trying to scare you , just check it out first , i have also heard of a lot of cars being broken into on that beach ,, there has been a few posts about it on this also

Re: ennereilly
I have fished the south beach a lot at night, I have never fished it at the right time because I have never had a decent fish from it but if your looking for a good doggie bashing session then its the right place. If you feel brave enough you can get the car on the beach or leave it in the car park and just camp where you can see it. Other wise I wouldn't let the car outa my sight.cube wrote:Thanks Dave, I have looked at earlier posts and others say the same. Re: ennereilly
Thanks guys. We've went to Courtown, way too windy and wavy on Friday night so no fresh fish prepared on the campfire unfortunately. Great place to camp though, beautiful beach and forest, we returned home with plenty of wild herbs instead of fish
