PVA in Sea Fishing

#1 Post by nobuzz »

I've got some PVA bags and string lying around from a few carp sessions over the past 2-3 years.

Has anyone tried using PVA in shore fishing situations?

I thought of this after seeing the tails of otherwise beautifully presented ragworms flying off the hook in mid-flight. I reckon a few wraps of PVA would keep everything nice and neat while casting but would dissolve to allow tails to wriggle when on the bottom.

Any thoughts?

i would say it would work well under the correct conditions . water temps determine how quickly it breaks down so it may take a while but i couldn't see it taking too long.

Might want to test the PVA in salt water first and see if it melts. I do some carp fishing and i add salt to particles(Hemp,Maize ,seeds peas) that have been soaking to stop them melting the PVA before casting. It might take to long to melt in the salt water.

i've used PVA thread a couple of times instead of breakaway clips for casting and found it just as good if not better.
