Southern Comfort in Co. Wexford

#1 Post by Ashley Hayden »

With the wind backing around south for the first time in ages I ventured out for my first surf session of 2012. Digging fresh black lug supplemented with SEBS peeler I chose a mark based on direction of surf and the ability to stay weed free. It paid off but the bass (that is big bass didn't show). Schoolies averaging 1.kilo in abundance (I lost count) along with good flounder and a large hound.

Great report, nice to see a decent hound showing this early. Fished one of the wexford beaches last week but it was too soon from the blow that was on.

Thanks for the nice comments lads, the hound caught me by surprise actually although I have caught them this early.

I've had hounds on the beaches from Carnsore to Cullenstown (nearly always to black lug) and on my home patch in and around Arklow/Gorey from mid to late June onwards, evening into darkness.

Nice hound Ashley, intending to get over that way and bag at least one of those this year. Good to see you back at the shore fishing!
Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!
