Kinsale 4th and 6th May

#1 Post by Ric0shay »

People:me

Duration: 2hrs Friday 2hrs Sunday

Tide:2hrs before low

Weather:calm

Bait:crab and red/yellow shallow feed

Rigs:pulley

Results: 4 bass

Report:FRIDAY: had a few spare hours between study so I said id head to a new spot I thought might produce a few fish.I arrived down around 9ish on Friday to find it alive with bass.Had 3 fish in twenty minutes.2 on a shallow feed and one on crab. They were all under 3 lbs and went back to grow bigger.Nothing more after that so I packed it in for the night.I had no camera on me that night. It was a bit gutted

SUNDAY:After pulling my hair out for 2 hrs at the mullet with no luck I headed back to try for a few more bass and got a stunner of 7lb 4oz.I was over the moon and he gave a great fight.

A PB for me.

Its always good to try something different and im determined to get my first. Then again I turned around today to find an elderly woman ask me was I ok as I was siting in a bush cursing and swearing at the fish in a foot of water in front of me.

I was talking to a guy on Friday that was saying I should fish east cork that thats were all the fish are being caught. But as I was saying to him, I have 3 or 4 small beaches to myself.I haven't seen another lad fish them once this year why would I bother move .

Well done Ric, i lived in kinsale for 3 1/2 years and the mullet in the harbour at low water will do your head in. As you said, there is some areas around kinsale that has great fishing, cracking bass there in the pic.
Good things come to those who bait.

I try to stay away from the mullet in the harbor, you spend most of your time fighting with the gulls.I moved down here 3 years ago from Dublin and the fishing has been top notch.
