Red Bay Co.Antrim 22nd April - late report

#1 Post by chuckaroo »

People: just me

Duration: most of the day

Tide: up and down

Weather: fine

Bait: sandeel and mack

Rigs: flappers

Results: nearly a blank

set off on sunday morning to Red Bay. tried pretty much all the main marks right round the bay with an hour or two at each. was using baits on the bottom but also tried a spot of spinning. i caught absolutely nothing until i got to my fourth and final mark, which was the first time i had fished it, when i managed a nice pollack and doggie double. phew

things have been very slow of late and particularly on that day. i was more than hapy to see these two fish!

Was down at Cushendall myself on Friday night mate, but only managed to get 2 casts in before the wind suddenly changed direction and had to head home  I got a doggie and 3 edible crabs though  Even before it turned bad there was a strong current pulling my lead to the left and I had packed light leaving the grips at home. I was going to try one of the beaches just outside Larne or maybe Glenarm, but there was too much weed built up plus, as usual, Waterfoot harbour was packed. Bloody nightmare, left the house at 6 with a great bait supply and home near 12 with only 2 casts plus a crack-off after a wave caused me to doubt my footing while casting off Limerick Point. My sister near drunk herself laughing at my face while i was turning the air blue and had visions of me kicking her ass like when we were little kids  Was so looking forward to it too after not getting out much for a while and dammit it seemed like it might've been nice last night.

unlucky dave, as you well know, thats the way it goes sometimes man
dont know if you read i report i put up a while ago of me driving to n.w.donegal one time and arriving there with a friggin 'hurricane' blowing!! was totally gutted. and btw, when i left home and returned home there wasnt a breath of air!..... unbelievable
but anyway, you probably did the right thing on knocking it on the head. doubt it "would have hurt" if you'd done the same to your sis.. :P :P :P lol
