#1 Post by saving private brian »

People:myself

Duration:19.30pm-22.00pm

Tide:lw @ 20.30pm

Weather:cracking

Bait:mackerel,sandeel,squid,

Rigs:flappers

Results:small turbots,flounders and a seatrout to 3+3/4lb

Report:with the evening that was in it and being victim to a hangover due to the manchester derby yesterday i could not think of a better way to get it ouyt of the system than to go for a cast.i loaded up my van and hit the road about 19.00pm.ghot there to find a nice small rolling surf and i had turbot in my mind as the targeted species.got to my mark and banged one out with sandeel and mack.just getting the other one ready when i seen a flat nippling at it.reeled him in and rebated and banged them both out.i banged one out deep and one to my right and in tighter.another twitch on the rod which was out deep and reeled in a small turbot.with the rod in tight doing nothing i found all the fish to be out at dept so i put them both out.i pulled in a few more turbots and flounders and was hoping for a trout as the tide was just about to turn.didnt see any trout for the turn and the fishing died off for an hour after the turn.at about 21.30pm i pulled in a few more small flats.the dusk was just about to settle when i reloaded one of my rods with sandeels and pegged it just 30 to 40 yards out in search for that dusk trout.i was just putting away one rod when the next thing boooom.trout struck.got in to the water and eased him closer but he fought and fought, lifted himself clean out of the water with weight and a flat being elevated too.this trout was very aggressive.he never gave up but i managed to beach him.happy days.i was trilled and excited.took a pic and let him away.it was a lovely double of a trout and a nice enough flat.called it an evening.wrapped up all me gear and headed for the van.i can not complain about my fishing this year,it has being great and i hope it keeps going that way.changing my tactics was the best thing i ever done.oh had a little visitor.he ran across the beach.if you look in the pic with the surf you can just about make him out and no its not a seal

what's that in the surf?

Nice session brian..well done. Had an otter come within 2 feet of us on a night session last year. After the bait i think!
