Hi Lads,
I recently purchased a new rod and reel and am wondering what the best way to look after them is. My sets ups in the past were cheap ones and if they made it out of the boot of the car between trips it was rare. After spending a bit of money this time, I'd like to try and keep them well maintained. Any tips would be great...
Cheers

Wash rod and especially the reel after every session with fresh water not salt water(for obvious reasons
). Also keep the reel oiled every so often.
The two best times to fish is when it's rainin' and when it ain't!!

Re: How to look after your reel and rod?
Thanks for the replies lads! Can anybody recommend what type of oil should I use on the reel? In the videos in the anglersworld link above he uses a regular oil for the outside of the reel and a special oil for the internal parts of the reel. The reel didn't come with any special oil. Could I use something like WD40 for the external parts of the reel and do I need to oil the internal components?
Thanks again
