Sea Trout Licence for Dublin and Drogheda

#1 Post by daveyboy »

Trying to buy the sea trout licence online and getting confused. I thought Dublin and Drogheda were all the one district but when you go to select a district there is a drop down menu and you need to slect Dublin, Dundalk or Drogheda. Are these all seperate districts? Kind of annoying as I was hoping to fish north county Dublin and Louth/Meath

Hi dave, you can buy an east coast license that will do from just past greenore to wexford, its 56euro's or an all ireland (26 counties) for 100euros. Check this site for details http://www.fishinginireland.info/salmon ... icence.htm and go to the eastern region. Hope this helps. This will not do carlingford as it comes under a different one but will allow you to fish from about 3-4 miles past carlingford. Goodluck anyway...

Hi Dave
I was confused as well. Got my licence though and asked in the shop for the eastern region. A few days later I looked at it and it said Dublin on it
I paid 56 euro for it so I am assuming its the eastern region I got, If you look on the map on that link it shows the region in green thats what i,m going by.

the east is split in 3 districts. dundalk drogheda and Dublin. u can only fish in the district u have licence for. unless u have licence for whole country.

Hi dave, i dunno how to post a previous topic but i found this one http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... 1&p=252154 It will maybe help. I thought the eastern one covers the east coast  It will maybe clear it up a bit but thanks for your post as i normally fish along that whole stretch and was gonna get just an eastern licence to keep myself covered in case a sea-trout got lost and foul hooked my lures  I have the northern license but i can see from the other topic, that i can upgrade to an all district one for 20euros more than the eastern one. Sounds like a good deal.

Rang IFI and yerman explained that the Dublin one covers from Rogerstown in North Dublin down to near Arklow. Gonna pick it up online. Give me something to fish for till the bass ban is over. Now to catch my first sea trout!
As an aside do most people find spinning the most effective way to catch them around Dublin? I've heard of mack strip and sandeel used down the west but not so much on the east coast
