Westport tomorrow and Saturday

Hi Lads,

I am staying in Westford for the weekend with my son and a few other family members for a dads and lads weekend away. There are a couple of us interested in wetting a line and I have never shore fished around the venue. We were supposed to be heading over to spend the weekend on Inishturk but the weather forecast is too bad.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to try to get on a few fish. PM me if you prefer. Also would like to try and buy bait locally so if there is somewhere in Westport let me know.

cant help you with marks but if you go into the tackle shop down at the pier called "a shore thing" the owner doug will point you in the right direction, has plenty frozen bait too

Dougie in "A Shore Thing" put me onto a nice beach mark that produced 2 sea-trout and a turbot for 2 hours fishing a dropping tide. Biggest trout was 4lb.

Fair Play Dougie, call in if you are down this way, his information was spot on.

The two best times to fish is when it's rainin' and when it ain't!!
