Re: Best in country for Bass??
The only place you can be sure of getting a Bass is the fishmongers. If there were any marks anywhere in the country where you would be sure of one, it would be crowded every day. Having said that, the South east coast,-Wexford to Cork appears to be the place most people head to.
I don't fish to catch fish. I just like using the gear.

Why not get in contact with a guide to take you out on your first bass session, it wont mean you are 100% to catch but it will heighten your chances allot.

Just look at the catch reports and see who is catching what where. Cork looks very good at the moment but you could always drive down through Clare and Kerry to get there.

Re: Best in country for Bass??
Hi Del you said your planning a trip later on in the year, my advice would be leave it till September or October as your chances of catching a Bass will dramatically improve. Bass tend to feed more ferociously around them months as they are looking to put on weight to get them over the winter months. As the water temperature increases in the coming months the Bass will start moving around our coast. If you can't wait till September my best bet would be to head to the South, South East as these areas tend to be the best places for Bass.

The other thing to remember is not all bass catches are mentioned here,be it because people try to keep things out of the public domain for obvious reasons or just because the size of bass they are catching are'nt worthy of mentioning or reporting as once a small schoolie is seen you've seen them all.
A good read through old reports and maps will start you off on your quest.

If you are interested in a guide then "kinsale bass guides" in cork are worth looking into. Top blokes and would get you on the fish with either lures or bait, whichever you prefer.

Hi
If you are going to the south east theres one guy you need to get in touch with is Jim Hendrich, your chances of getting fish with this chap are excellent, he has vast expienience in bass fishing. Knowledge that would take you ten years plus to gain..........
