west waterford 17/04/12

#1 Post by bhoy32 »

People:me

Duration:45mins

Tide:lw

Weather:clear sky strong wind

Bait:crab

Rigs:float 5/0 pennel

Results:1 bass 65cm

Report:tried a bit of lure fishing the past couple of mornings and i can safely say the bass are safe when im throwing lures at them  not even a sign of a fish  so i had a crack at them today with bait. float fishing a big crab bait over the same ground i had lure fished the previous few tides. 1st 15 mins the float never showed any signs of fish so i reeled it in and changed the bait about ten mins later the float went under and didnt surface again so reeled in the slack and the rod sprung into life fish on it put up a great scrap over the rocks and into the gullys. i could see it was a nice bass when i pulled it over the top of the rocks in front of me and then just glided it onto my rock with the next wave. great scrap on the light gear. took care of the fish and put it away safe before casting out again. next cast i lost my float to another bass that i just couldnt get over the rock in front of me so i had to pack up and head away  next time i go float fishing im going to bring more than 1 float
