Lost another one just before I landed the codling. A few weeks before I caught a small sea trout on same bait :?:

Intend to try this beach soon as I can reach it in half an hour, have never tried it before.
What stage of tide tide is best to fish?. I read on other posts that
razor fish could be the best bait here at low tide?? Are there bass
around when there is a surf?
Anyway will bring along different baits and fish different stages,
that's what fishing's all about.
Any info. will help.

Green Fisherman,
This area does really not get fished much at all. I spend quite a bit a bit of time boat fishing off the point, and only on occasion do I fish from the shore. Bass are there to be caught mainly in the warmer months, as you say when there is a surf running. The guys that fish there usually use lug and razor. Tope also hug the shore here at times. Flats there all year round with the usual LSD'S, mackerel, codling, and coalies being seasonal visitors. The ground just off the point is reefy and broken, with huss, rays and occasional hounds, and congers present, I havent caught any of these from the shore here though.
If I were you I would treat the venue as a blank canvas.

Hi Mark, The codling was about 9 inches, not so big. It seems that to catch on this mark, in the winter at least, then there should be some kind of surf running. I'm looking forward to the arrival of the bass. Saw some terns yesterday and there's lots of lug. Looking forward to plenty of fishing...

Its weird, the Ground between Carlingford and Malahide rarely gets a Mention on this site from what I can see.
How are the Beaches in Louth and Meath Fishing current, the fact that most Northern Irish Anglers head straight for the Antrim coast seems to have created a Proverbial By Ball for the Coast of these 2 Counties... Can anything spectacular be expected from them?

Hi Lads,

Been a fairly regular Salmon fisherman,the thoughts of going sea fishing from the shore for tope excites me.Been a bit optimistic i suppose but the thoughts of getting a run from the shore for these fish is exciting.I am based in Dundalk and own a tackle shop.I have been told that Dunany point is a very good mark for tope.The thing is where do I start how do I know where the best points are and what bait and rigs do I use.I know that is probably a lot of questions but I have to start somewhere.
