Report:
hello to all .this is my first report of 2012 as things have been busy the last few months.jetted in to dublin on good friday with only one thing on my mind was fishing the sat.while been away i have been thing about my making my 2012 a better year for fishing than 2011 was. ithought of new type rigs, bringing the right rigs and baits to the venue for the fish im expecting to catch, write reports and dates on preformances and tide stages etc.hopefully it will be all to better knowledge in the future.im not too sure how long im gonna be home for but im gonna make the most of it.agreed with a mate on sat nite to head out for a cast to break in the rods and reels again and give them a run.not being fishing in a while, when i looked in my box i could see a lot of rusty hooks and things but still went ahead after changing a few hooks.got to our mark at about 22.45pm and had rods out for 23.10.a nice nite along with a nice surf and a silver buck was always in the back of my mind.it wasnt to be but we picked up a few nice flounders up to 42 cm along with smaller ones.left the venue at 02.00am.tiredness was kicking in.next day i headed my self back south west to a beach i known for a while.there was a great surf up but had the attention of those kite surfers.my confidence dropped but said while im here i may aswell go ahead with the plan.had the rods out for about 14.00pm.was hoping for a trout as i pegged one rod with sandeels into a gut while the other one was casted at distance and was rolling along the bottom with the surf into the gut.it was this rod that picked me up a few hand size turbots.didnt take any pics as the rain was teeming and all know what a hand size turbots look like.the kite surfers grew in size and got to me so i left the venue at 15.30pm.as i was leaving i thought i seen a stream futher down the beach so i put the gear in the van and headed off on me 10 minute walk to find my next spot where i will fish this beach again.happydays.i went out yesterday afternoon for a cast 10/04/2012 in the hope of a seatrout to add to my list.high water was at 21.20pm so it was my aim to be there an hour before hand and have the gear out and all looked good too as the dusk was settling on a beautiful evening.i got a few trout here before so was optomistic.in 2010 in had 29 seatrout for my summer where as 2011 i only had 4 so there was one thing on my mind.as i set up one rod from the back of the van and had it ready i turned from there and leashed it as hard as i could aswell as making sure there was no one walking below.had that on the tripod when i was setting up number two when i saw a nice nock.left rod number two for a sec then i saw another to which i brought in a mad kicking seatout to maybe 1 3/4lbs.anyway got them both out and it was coming near the very last of the daylight when i got another bite, and 2, and 3 so i reeled to wat was a seatrout in the surf to which i was unforunate to lose him 5 yards from the shore.ah well thats fishing i thought so rebaited and tryed to land in the same area and it work as i hadnt to waited long when i got hit and was fortunate to land another seatrout of maybe under 1 1/4lbs.after this i waited 20 mins to seek for a flat but was not to be.i released both trout but had a bit of trouble with the second fella as he was well hooked but after spending 10 mins with him in the water and getting to know him he eventually swam in to the unknown.absolutely great to be out shore angling.its something that when you get into its very hard to get out of
cheers brian
