south wexford 21/3/12

#1 Post by mitch »

People:me

Duration:7.30 to 11.45pm

Tide:falling

Weather:cold and clear

Bait:lug /crab

Rigs:2and 3 hook flappers

Results: 5 schoolies /coalies/flounders and r/ling

Report: intended fishing s/wickow but when i arrived there it was flat calm ,so i decided to head to wex and on way down i forgot to take the turn at ballycanew  so quick decision and decided to hit s/wex . it was abit of a gamble because this beach is known for weed ,anyway arrived and not a bit to be seen happy days and even better there was a nice bit of surf running up the beach .

at this stage the tide was an hour into the drop ,got the rods out one in the gutter and the other 40 yrds .it was a little slow for tha first hour but after that it picked up ,first schoolie no monster at 34cm but still a schoolie :D then 30 min later another 38 cm ,then had a mix of flounders best 28 cm ,coalies to 34 cm ,about 10 oclock had a nice rattle and result ,a 40 cm schoolie and 20 min later a 42 cm schoolie [bass] :P

Went quiet after that so packed up a hit the road ,hopefully this is the start of some fishing in the wex and wicklow beaches :D

all fish were taken on lug nothing on crab, everything was returned to fight another day .

Nice one Gerry, getting a few anyway, that was a bit of luck missing the turn.
