looking at the species for June I am thinking that it might be a bit unfair for anyone living in the north half of the country, the chances of getting a Stingray or Hounds north of Dublin or Galway would be a lot slimmer then down south

We decided to have 2 species for each month to minimise the travelling, but we can't eliminate it for everybody every month.

great stuff! 8)
only small question is: Do you have to explicitly state on your report (for that month and for the specified species..) that you wish to be considered for the competition..? or are you automatically considered if your species matches..

How do you "prove" the date of catch? Some people could have / have pics going back years (unfortunatly I don't  )

Should there be a rule that puts any of that days newspaper headline alongside the fish?

We go by the "honour system".

Fair enough, its great to know that this sport can run a open comp like this and rely on the honour of participants.

Not many other sports could!!!

i think that good idea as most photos are taken on a digtal camera and the time and date can be added to the photo useing the menu of the camera

Hi

The news paper heading is a good idea, date on pictures, also the way the species hunt was formatted, with the logo in the background of the picture and that with the honor system. cant go wrong.

Only thing is my digital camera I can alter the date ... But i think If we're doing it there more fun and sport getting our backsides out there!
I will use the newspaper date headline and logo ;)

Really looking forward to this comp it will be a serious challenge!! I'm assuming the big Turbot will be caught in either Connaught or Ulster? We are going to hit the beaches tonight in search of a decent Turbot there has to be one somewhere in Kerry!!

Rather than cause a lot of confusion posters should only post pictures of the nominated species and their report and also put up a full a report and other pictures in the “Sea Angling Reports” where posters can reply.

As stated by JD in the first post http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/bull ... 65&t=38625 “reports only”

Anglers willing to comment can so in the “Sea Angling Reports”
Specimen Fish 2024: Shore Rockling (3) 36cm, 34cm, 31cm; Thick Lipped Mullet (2) 58cm, 57cm; Smooth Hound (1) 109cm; Sting Ray (1)125cm; Ballan Wrasse (1) 48cm ; Corkwing Wrasse (1) 24.8cm. Golden Grey Mullet (2) 43cm, 1.8lb; 40.6cm, 1.55lb;
Total species boat/shore: 45
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Specimen Fish 2025: To date: 6.
Flounder 46cm; Spurdog 120cm; Stingray 91cm; Smooth Hound 114cm; 103.5cm; 104cm
