Outboard Servicing
Does any of the Northern crowd know of anywhere I might get an outboard serviced in the vicinity of Donegal preferably? Its a 50HP Volvo Penta Outboard and I am fast discovering that there doesnt seem to be another of them in existence!!! It doesnt need anything serious doing to it or anything but I would like to have it checked over prior to the season kicking off in earnest.

Hi Andy, I was in touch with Robert Craigs when I was looking for shear pins, the only contact they had for parts on it was Emilssons in Sweden who wanted £170 stg + P&P for 5 Pins!! They wont handle servicing on the outboards at all. Got pins made by a precision engineer in Ballybofey instead for €15 each. All I want basically is for someone to just run their eye over it and make sure there are no major problems lurking. I will be selling the engine in a few months and replacing it with something a bit more common to be honest so hopefully avoid any further problems.
I was told by Craigs however that a lot of those Volvo outboards are kind of a Honda derivative whatever that means...
Thanks for the offer anyway Andy, appreciate it. .
