Ballintoy 26/02/2012

#1 Post by billy the fish »

People:me and doggydave

Duration: 10.30 am to about 2. 30 pm

Tide: on the drop

Weather: decent

Bait: rag, mack, and sandeel

Rigs: 2 hook flappers

Results: 1 turbot

Report: First outing in 2012 and chose ballintoy as it is a relatively safe winter rock fishing venue. The tide was quite choppy and it was hard to detect bites. The bait came back well chewed or gone most times, maybe crabs or god knows. At about 12.30 i seen my distance cast rod slowly nudge a few times and struck into it. Result a very decent turbot. Sorry no photo this time, as i left my phone in the car. One bite , one fish [safely returned] but no blank. Happy happy days.

I'm envious of your turbo, me and the mate fished Ballintoy rocks for a whole afternoon a couple of Saturdays ago and caught zilch :( Very demoralising seeing your rigs coming back in stripped of bait by the crabs.

Keep the faith!
Monty.

Just a thought maybe you should try peelers?
Well done on the turbot.
