Well done for sticking it out boss, i couldn't make it this year due to being in London.

Every year with he interpros its the same thing , its costs the anglers(or often the parents) lots of time and money and yet the fishing is at a bad time. I have no idea why they even hold it at that time of year, as opposed to either earlier as in maybe october or later in late march or april.

Very good report mate! I have to agree with fishinmidget; the young fellas definitely get the thin end of the wedge when it comes to the time of the year that the junior interpros are fished every year! Its nearly like an afterthought on the part of the federation. Keep at it though...........

Well done to the Ulster under 21's on winning the gold.

Great report, but this is Match fishing , it can break your heart at times .
The main thing is , that you have a good time doing it , make new friends and learn from your mistakes .
Then do it all over again .
I think Alex went too far with his comments , A few people in Connaught put a lot of time and effort in to the Teams last year ,which he was part of, they wanted for nothing , from Bait , gear and ways of travell . Its a pitty Alex you feel that way .

You know, your right. I left out some important people from that post. This is what it should have said.

I hope that makes my meaning clearer. I was not attacking yourself, Peter and the others that helped at all. I was more trying to point out the problems (date in calendar) that everyone has to put up with.

Alex

P.S. You know for what its worth, the first two times i made the team i don't recall many people aside from Chris who offered help when it came around to home international time. In fact i dont recall anyone aside from him who offered. Last year was a little better, but not by much.

Kerry InterProvincials 18/19 Feb 2012 THJ RETURNS TO SAI

#6 Post by fishinmidget »

Very true, there is one held every year.

But the first two years, i was 15 and 16 years old. And sadly, when i was that age i did not want to bring up an issue i was not even sure would be listened to. I'm sure you will say its entirely my fault, but i just didn't have the necessary confidence when i was that age to speak my views in a room full of adults. Especially as i was always reminded of my age and lack of maturity/world wisdom at every club meet.

Then there followed a break of a few years for various reasons, not least of which i was sick of the constant 'slagging' and 'banter' that always seemed to be directed at me when i was at a GBSAC meet or competition. This gets very old, very quickly.

Last year i didn't bother to let it be known as i realised that would be my last year of competing in the interprovincials. Also as i had said, the situation was improved last year so i didn't feel it was necessary to trouble yourselves with my(seemingly) rather childish complaints.

Those are my reasons for not bringing it to the clubs attention. I don't expect you to agree with them Mike, but you did ask why.

Well Alex , it seems you have the necessary confidence now .
So why dont you get involved more in the Federation , rather than standing back ...
Its there for everyone to get involved in , say what they have say , try and change what they dont like ,and improve it as whole , for everyone .

I probably will, if i ever come back to Ireland to live.

Theres not a whole lot i can do now as i am not a member. And i don't intend to joining when i live in a different country, as i consider it a waste of money. As i said, if i come back to ireland i will most likely join up again.

Until then however, i will continue to talk about my experience with the IFSA, and the previous Interprovincial competitions in particular. I don't really see a reason why i shouldn't.
